Badri Margishvili was born in Tbilisi, Georgia in 1954. He trained and worked as an architect before studying painting at the Ilya Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture from 1984 to 1987. Drawing on the Russian avant-garde — Marc Chagall and Michail Chemiakin among his influences — his work has shown in St. Petersburg, Moscow, New York, Chicago, Hong Kong and Tokyo. He now divides his practice between Georgia and Greece.
